Improve Motivation Using Quotes

Managers always want to improve motivation in their employees in order to boost morale and get better results. Often companies will hold workshops and training seminars on different motivational exercises to inspire their employees to put more effort into their work. These types of seminars often use inspirational quotes as a way to encapsulate their main points.

These employee motivation training seminars are usually centered on the concept of teamwork and working together, and the motivational quotes used often reflect that aim. An Ethiopian proverb, "When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion," is a good example of the type of quote that often gets used. The famous, "No man is an island," is also regularly used. These quotes carry a certain power and will hopefully get the employees thinking about what they can accomplish by working with each other.

Because teamwork is so important, managers will often reference sports to increase motivation among employees. Comparisons are often made between winning a game and achieving the goals of the office. A motivational quote like Casey Stengel's, "Most ball games are lost, not won," or the quote from Willie Mays, "It isn't hard to be good from time to time in sports. What's tough is being good every day," has a strong relevance in the workplace once the sports terminology is replaced with business words. Sometimes it is easier for employees to get behind a concept that is not solely about work.

Another way that managers try to improve motivation is with self development and self growth initiatives. Some employees are motivated to do a good job just as part of their nature, but others need more support. "Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow," by Doug Firebaugh, and Thomas Edison's, "If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves," are the types of motivation quotes that managers hope will give employees the incentive to do all they can to succeed at work.

The problem with using quotes in the workplace is that you may not improve motivation, but actually reduce it. Some of these types of quotes can be perceived as cliché and sometimes only serve to annoy employees. Therefore, if you want a seminar on motivation to succeed, then you should use quotes carefully, usually as an introduction to an activity or task. Pointing out that the quotes are merely there to encapsulate a concept is also a good way to avoid negative responses. After all, you want your employees to develop self motivation and walk away from the seminar feeling more inspired, not less.

Motivation for Teachers: Helpful Articles
While most people in professions that involve the education of children keep up-to-date on important teaching skills, motivation for teachers is very much needed at this time. An instructor's role is to teach and also to enable their students to develop self motivation skills that will be useful throughout their time in school, but also when they are adults and out in the workforce. The key to success in either school or out in the workforce is through learning techniques of self motivation.

Motivating Children to Achieve
The amount of achievement motivation that children growing up in the past few years have is quite low compared to other generations. Kids often seem to expect everything to be done for them and often have little motivation to do something on their own for an extended period of time, which doesn't involve video games or television of course. The main reason for this situation is the tendency for parents to do everything for their children, rather than motivating children to achieve, and thereby depriving them of the chance to develop self-reliance skills.

Motivation at Work is Good for Business
On the job, it is important for each employee to find motivation at work. While some workers have a good work ethic and are naturally motivated to do the best job possible, others need the support of Human Resources to develop and maintain happy, fulfilled and contented working lives. It has become a challenge to treat workers like family, which can aid in a healthy work environment and thus increase the profits of the company.
